One maker, a lot of polymer clay, and an unhealthy number of streaming subscriptions.
Earsits and Whatsits began in 2018 at a folding table in a spare bedroom. The first collection was six pairs of earrings shaped like tiny spaceships, made for a local comic convention. They sold out in under two hours.
What followed was a steep learning curve in polymer clay, resin casting, and the art of photographing shiny objects. Within a year, the spare bedroom became a proper studio, the folding table was replaced by a real workbench, and the convention circuit became a full calendar.
Today, Earsits and Whatsits ships worldwide, attends over a dozen cons annually, and has a waiting list for custom commissions that keeps growing. The operation is still solo — every piece is designed, sculpted, assembled, and packed by one pair of (slightly paint-stained) hands.
The shows, games, and books you love say something about who you are. Wearing them shouldn't be limited to graphic tees. Earrings are subtler, more personal — a quiet signal to fellow fans that you're one of them.
We'd rather make 30 perfect pairs than 300 sloppy ones. Every piece is inspected under magnification before it ships. If we wouldn't wear it, we won't sell it.
We offer clip-on conversions for every design, and our studs come in both standard and petite post sizes. Accessories should be for everyone, full stop.
Whether you want to chat about a custom order, ask about wholesale for your comic shop, or just gush about the latest season of your favourite show — we're always happy to hear from you. Reach out at [email protected].
